Quick-Start EFT
If you want to feel a little easier in yourself and more peaceful, take a couple of minutes now to have a quick go at basic EFT. The tapping points are illustrated in the diagram below. Remember that EFT — properly applied — can be a very powerful technique, and that this is merely an introduction.

Getting Started
Pick something specific that is bothering you or causing you distress, perhaps using a particular event or memory. State how you feel in a sentence (this is what will become your 'set-up statement') and rate your intensity of feeling out of ten.
Set-up statement examples:
- “Even though I feel angry about how she behaved/what happened, I totally accept myself anyway.”
- “Even though I feel all this resentment about ......, I'd like to let go of it.”
- “Even though I am feeling stressed and tense because ......, I allow myself to feel calm and peaceful.”
- “Even though this makes me feel ......, I am going to treat myself with kindness and understanding.”
- “Even though I wish that ......, I allow myself to let this feeling go.”
- “Even though I have this feeling in my ...... (state where the feeling is, for example, throat/chest/stomach), I choose to let it go.”
- State this sentence as you tap on your karate chop point (point number one) on the side of either hand with the first two fingers of your other hand.
- Move to tapping (between five and nine times) on point number two (beginning of your eyebrow), concentrating on a shortened version of your ‘set-up statement’, for example, you might just say 'this anger' or 'I feel so angry' as you tap. This shortened set-up statement is just what we call a reminder phrase, and is used to help keep the issue in mind.
- Repeat as you work your way around the remaing seven points. Tap the points on either your right or left side — or tap on both sides at once, if you prefer.
- Once you have finished on point nine (top of your head), take a deep breath and re-check your issue's intensity rating. This should have reduced.
- Repeat rounds of tapping until your intensity rating has dropped to zero, or until the issue no longer bothers you.
Congratulations — that’s it! You have just completed your first step towards more physical and emotional well-being.
